I scoped out a hummer web site but they say it only effects 1999-2003 Silverado's but then again the hummer uses the same 6.5TD.

Here is a summary:

A moan, groan or boom noise is heard while the vehicle is idling or a steering wheel vibration is felt through the floor when the AC compressor engages. It may be caused by vehicle vibration that echoes through the exhaust system, but it is NOT the compressor, so do not replace it.

1. If moan is present at idle refer to PIT3203 for repair instructions.
2. If moan is heard at 2000 RPM, refer to PIP3121B for repair instructions.
3. Check engine mounts for a ground out condition. (see Corporate Bulletin 04-06-01-023)
4. Check exhaust heat shield for separation from muffler (see Corporate Bulletin 03-06-05-008A)
5. Also check Corporate Bulletin 01-01-38-013A for more diagnostic info.
