I’ve been doing some research for a manual transmission for my 89 6.2 an I’ve been pointed in the direction of the nv4500.I’m will to go that route but I have no experience with that trans. My main question is would my truck be a 75 mph tops truck or could I go faster then that?

6.2 is governed to 3600 RPM. With 31" OD tires and 4.56 axles, top speed with direct ratio top gear is about 73 MPH.

5th in a NV 4500 is 0.75:1 overdrive, meaning a 97 MPH top speed. Or 2700 RPM at 70 MPH.

Now, running a 6.2 at 3600 RPM is tough on cooling system and very bad on economy. This engine has peak efficiency between 1800 and 2400 RPM.

I am running the NV4500, works okay with the motor and it will go as fast as the speedometer goes in this truck.

is it 4x4 or 2wd?? You might find a Nv3500 to be a good fit or even a T5 depending on what you use the truck for. Tremic makes a TR-4050 (?) which is supposed to be all the rage but is pricey. but many hat the old granny 4 speeds as they are slow shifting and heavy

I run an sm465 granny gear 4 speed. with 373's i could run that fast with my 37's
