I made some out of pressure treated 2x8's. Each ramp consists of a 4-foot length of 2x8 with a 2-foot length of 2x8 screwed to the center. It's easy to drive onto and yields a 3-inch lift ... just enough to comfortably slide under the truck with a creeper for oil changes, lube, etc. I have some higher metal ramps but I’m uneasy driving the truck on them ..

Wal mart sells a SUV ramp which has a higher weight holding capacity than the regular type ramps. They help a good bit in keeping the oil from getting between the engine and skid plate.

I bought some "Rhino Ramps" made by Blitz Company at Wally world. They had two weight classes so I bought the heaviest ones. They raise the truck 6 1/2" are are sturdy. Like you my old steel ramps creeked the first (and last time) I drove the truck up on them. These 2500HD are a lot heavier - 6750 lbs - than my old 1500 Silverado.

Funny you should mention this. I went over to change my oil at my parents house shortly after I bought my Duramax (prior to getting my own floor jack and stands) because they had ramps. I set them up and start to drive up them, then I notice that I am not getting any elevation change.... No, they just flattened out like pancakes. Thank God they failed right off the bat, rather than when I was underneath.

dont bother with the ramps, just get a lift kit and some bigger tires and you will have no problem!

I don't know if they are Rhino ramps but Sam's club sells a set of ramps that will support your truck and they unfold so you can use them as loading ramps for your box and thay have safety chains so they won't fall off in the middle of loading your ( insert your favorite tot here ). They cost about $50.

I believe they are the 12,000 lb. ramps. Got mine from Autozone...

I use the same Wally World ramps. I crushed a metal pair with my F150. The LBZ is 1,100 lbs heavier, and the plastic hold. They are rated for 12,000 lbs as mentioned, and they really are stronger then the metal ones.

Just a reminder/safety notice to you ramp users. Not to be patronizing to all you who know better but for even just the one who doesn't... Make absolutely certain to very securely chock your rear wheels when putting the front up on ramps. You can take it from the voice of experience, it's just bad timing to think about "why didn't I" when your laying under there thinking to yourself..."Self...My god the grim reaper has some stinkin *** breath" while your staring him in the face realizing your about to die. Now most of us were taught to chock the wheels as well as set the parking break when ramping the car but years ago, after 16 hours of work I came home to find my brother who borrowed my car that day f**ked up my linkage. So around 11:30 at night I put it up on ramps and Forgot to chock the wheels. It was almost my last mistake ever. CAR (with very low clearance) rolls down on top of me when I move the linkage (trans gear box was the only thing holding it in place) the f**ker starts rollin . NOT GOOD! If I coulda seen my own face... I lived to tell about it, barely. Just trust me, its a mistake you don't want to make. Chock it, use jack stands, chain it to a tree! Don't be complacent because nobody ever plans on having an accident... thats why we call them that. And sure as **** don't use no light duty ramps.
