Transmission cooler leak

This has probably been discussed before and I probably am entering this in the wrong place, but I am buying a new to me truck with a transmission cooler hose leak. This is a 2007 Silverado classic LT 4X4 LBZ Duramax with 63,000 miles on it and had a deer wreck three years ago by a little old lady driver. they have a topper and never towed a travel trailer or 5th wheel.
I drove it home to show it off and I live down a bumpy dirt road. Looked under the front to see a fluid leak from one of the hoses. The current owner would not sell it to me until he gets this fixed. A transmission shop local to the area is well known as a good repair shop is replacing three hoses to the cooler and a complete service for $760.00 that he is paying the bill.
should I be concerned or is this a good deal at $27,000.00
Truck is in excellent shape outside and inside, I could not find anything else wrong under the hood or by looking underneath. Any thing else I need to check before buying this truck?

It is very common, I would have them replaceed with an after market kit though.
So is there any preference for an after market kit?

He did say there has been no changes and that everything is stock.

X2 on the alligator kit,

Some people will tell you that the rigid OEM lines are better than the hydraulic line fixes and that you will more that likely zip tie the hose up, but if you use the proper clips and do good job, your just as likely to damage the rigid OEM lines as you are the hydraulic kit.
I doubt with that few miles any other issues would be popping up yet. That thing is hardly broken in.
I have the same truck with half as many miles. I had to replace the intermediate steering shaft and transmission cooler lines. Be sure they replace all three lines and not just one they think is leaking. I used the 5/8" Alligator Performance lines as well, but if you aren't towing, the less expensive 1/2" lines are fine. Since they are in there anyway, have them flip the transmission cooler 180*. It puts the cooler in the path of air instead of behind the bumper.

It sounds like you're getting a great truck from a conscientious seller.

After you get the truck, search the forum for directions on:

  • Transmission Flush with Transynd if they didn't do it with the hose replacement. Screw on Filter change at the same time.
  • Coolant drain and flush with Dexcool
  • Front and Rear differential oil - good synthetic 75-90 or 75-110 weight if you tow heavy.
  • Transfer case oil - Transynd transmission fluid same as above.
  • Power Steering hydroboost flush. search forum for this info.
  • Brake line Flush
  • Fuel filter adapter to convert to CAT filter and new CAT filter. Search for info. Underground Diesel Performance currently has this on sale at a great price. I just ordered mine. Not expensive and very beneficial.
I'm in the middle of doing all the above for this summer's towing of a fifth wheel camper primarily due to the age and not miles on the truck.

Damn, $59 shipped for the adaptor is a good price
Thread moved to tranny forum.
Bumping this thread back up. I just installed MA's kit on a LBZ, so far no leaks but i've only put few hundred miles on it. If they are like anything else MA sells, they should work great. I buy most my parts through them and they are top notch products, and customer support is 2nd to none!! Just wanted to add some info to this issue!
