It appears that Goodyear quit making the ST 235/85R16 LR G trailer tires rated at 3,750 lbs.

What make/model of trailer tire are the D/A drivers using on your trailers?

Goodyear still makes the G614RST, which is the only one I know of. I'm not aware of any other tires they've had in the past unless it was some time ago. I believe the G614RST is made in that one size and load range only, and possibly is the only American made tire in that size and load. I heard Greenball (?) was going to start producing one to compete with GY. I believe all the rest are Chinese, or from that area.

I usually run LT tires on my trailers. Have LT tires on my 40' 14,000lb 5th wheel, came from the factory with them. In 18,000 miles, no problem with them...

AFAIK, the G614 is still available. It replaced the G159 a couple of years ago.

Just upgraded my toy hauler to 235/85r16 Goodyear G614's, not cheap but I got over 3k on them now (Winter) and they tow great, run cool. Downside is the cost but my rig came with 235/80r16 st's nankage, but 2 in 2 years 1 with a empty trailer, one loaded with the toys, still well under the 21,120# rating, did 6k in damage to the trailer. Heading to get the rig From KZ next week, all new sides due to the blow outs. IIRC I paid about $1900 for 7 mounted /balanced.

I changed from ST 15" tires and wheels to LT225/75/16 tires (and 16" rims) on the travel trailer. I like the comfort that 65 MPH is not a limiting factor for LT tires like it is on ST tires.

Goodyear quit making that tire and sold the molds to a Chinese maker. They are now called Tow Master Trailer Radial. They look exactly like the old Goodyear, as they should since they are the same molds. Not sure of the quality, but you can get them at TCI Centers across the country and I am sure other places as well.

Thanks for the information. I am trying to avoid the damage and headaches experienced by blizzardplowman.
The G614 look like a "cross over" tire between the LT and the ST. The specs look like they will perform and hold up well.

From what I know ST tires have stiffer sidewalls and don't bounce as much as the LT (Light Truck) tires and the ST tires run cooler when fully loaded. The ST tires have definitely increased a lot in the last few years though. Maybe that is why the trailer manufacturers have moved to the LT tires.

I usually buy from http://www.*******-trailer.com/products2006.htm but they no longer stock the goodyear load range G tire even though it is in their catalog.
