I have just commited myself to another duramax. An 06 standard cab with a ZF6 transmission. Looked for one in the states and was expensive.

Just so happens I found one over here in the UK about a 4 hr drive away.

Ive never driven a LH stick shift. so was thinking of going down in my crew cab and towing back on a solomatic recovery frame unit.

Would this be possible? can transfer box be put in neutral like an allison 4x4?

I'm actually considering pulling the body off and putting a 1948 chevy 6400 on itCensored

I can't imagine it would be a much different driving experience. Is the shift pattern the same? is the clutch on the right or left? it shouldn't be too hard to learn to drive it.

im used to driving a 6 speed, but it's an audi. I suppose it's like having a wank with the other hand, it's just a case of getting used to it.

yeah it'll have a different pattern to it. but if you can drive a manual you should be good. Much easier to drive a diesel manual than a gas.

What about disconnecting the driveshaft then you dont have to worry about the rest of the drivetrain?
