I want to replace the stock torsion bars to compensate for the 220 pound bumper I've installed. I've searched and searched (and read all of the torsion bar posts - for the second time
). But I couldn't find any references to part numbers for hgher capacity torsion bars. The GM parts rep couldn't tell what one move up from stock would be.

Does anybody have any numbers? Or could some kind soul with a factory snowplow package get the part numbers for replacements? I believe that 2000 and later are all the same.

Thanks.

Just a thought, how about 3500HD's. I'm not sure if they are different than the 2500HD? I'm sure someone will let us know

The torsion bars are the same on both models ... I have never heard of high capacity bars for our trucks ....

Just give your exsisting torsion bars a few cranks on the adjuster to compensate for the slight dip ...

This is what is done when a snowplow is attached to a IFS system ...Do the same for your bumper ...

Au contraire! Cranking the adjuster doesn't increase capacity, which is what I need. The adjuster's function is intended for alignment and I will be using it to get an inch or so of lift. Since this poor dead horse of a topic has already been beat to death twice over, I refuse to say any more.
But thanks anyway for the response. It is appreciated.

Thanks for the list. With its help, I believe that I have it figured out.

In the sales blurb for the truck it lists the torsion bar capacity for the 4WD 2500HD as 4800 lbs. The torsion bars on my rig, though, are the GL's which your list indicates have a capacity of 8782 lbs. This leads me to conclude that the weights in your list are actually the combined left and right. Moving up to the XG buys me an additional 272 lbs. which will work for me.

If you find any Pm too. I have 2-3500 mason dumps that can use some help in the front. I have timerman in both truck. Try hanging 900 lbs of snow plow. I wish the would make the 3500 hd in 4WD they have leaf springs.

How did you determine which Torsion Bars you have installed?
