Hey All, Looking at a set of air bags for the rear. Ever since i leveled my truck when hooked up to my 5'er the rear end ins't level with the front anymore. Had a set of ride rite bags befor an liked 'em. have heard alot of good stuff about these timbren kits. Anyone have any experience with 'em? It must be like a helper spring I assume. Thanks for any info.....

I have had both and prefer the Timbren's. Why? No maintenance issues, no worries about failure (loss of air). I carry a 3500 lb camper and they only come into use with the camper on! I also didn't like the ongoing bounce with the air bags (Timbrens just seem to ride better).

i have timbrens on the front of my plow truck and the rear of my one ton tow truck. I would buy another set of timbrens before a set of bags anyday.

Go to www.timbren.com to see what they look like. They mount in place of the factory axle bumpers. I run them and see no reason to go to air bags. You set them up to be about 1" above the axle when the truck is empty. The truck will go down 1" then they will touch the axle and carry the load. They will not level your truck under load if you have your truck level when empty. If your truck still has the factory "slope" you will be level with 3,000lb in the bed. It takes about 800lbs in the bed to set the Timbrens on the axle. If you haul around 800lbs you will have a rough ride. I got mine from www.truckspring.com for $154.95 at my door.

I had Air Lift bags and the Digital Sure Set kit on my 2004 GMC D/A. I had issues twice with failed solenoids, once while traveling. The Air Lift Co. was outstanding in free replacement of the needed parts. I did have my manual fill fittings inside the gas door to keep the dirt off of them and high enough for easy reaching. Just a hassle to replace under the box. I put Timbrens on the rear of my new 2006 Chev D/A today and it was an easy task to do so. Didn't load anything in the box to test them out yet, but they are sure made solidly.

I have had the same airlift bags on both of my trucks, took them off of my 02 D/A and installed the same bags on my 04', no fancy pump/solinoid crap, just two manual valves mounted on the rear reciever hitch safety chain flange.
Never had a leak or problem , over 130k miles total, about 40-50k towing.
Adjustability is a nice feature.

Don't know much about timbrens.
