Is the Hypertech vin locked now that I've programmer my truck? I remember hearing that they are so can it be sold and used on another truck? I'd like to sell mine and either get the Predator or EFILive. I saw that Xtreme Diesel has the Predator for $299. I didn't like almost getting beat by a MR2 last night.

If you reload the factory tune back in, it should unlock the programmer so someone else could install it on their vehicle. Problem with doing that it is whoever buys it no longer has the Hypertech warranty or calibration updating on that programmer. It only applies to the original purchaser on the original truck. I just had my truck reflashed at the dealer & my programmer didn't recognize the new factory calibration. I emailed them prior to going to the dealer in case that happened so I'll call on Mon for an RMA # to send it back to get updated.

I have an RMA# for my shifting issues but haven't sent it back to them. I didn't like the way I was treated by the customer service rep I spoke with. I may still send it in. The power doesn't seem to be the same from one day to another nor the shifts.

Its the fuel thats causing the power loss issues so dont think that you're the only one.

Hypertech is usually selling for around $200 used. No one is gonna pay that though for a vin locked unit.

Was yours VIN locked? Were you able to sell it? I always heard that the gas programmers were locked once you programmed with it but have read conflicting things on here.

It shouldnt be locked if you program it back to stock.Ive had 2 PP3 programmers for my previous gas trucks and sold them both no problem. I reccomend for you to at least get the Transgo JR installed, youll love the way it shifts! Runs and shifts alot quicker/better. kinda of like my old turbo gasser truck;)

I still think its a great everyday fun programmer that you can feel safely towing with on high level. Its no race programmer by any means but the difference from stock is a lot. The shifting is funny sometimes supposedly from the Allie needing to learn how to shift. I dont have this problem since i installed my Transgo Jr and Edge Juice.

Here's what I did....

I sold it to a member here. He emailed back saying it was vin locked. I used it for a couple years. I didnt understand why but I learned that some programmers marry themselves to the vin and some do not. Why I do not know. Anyways, I called Hypertech and they said $217 to have it unlocked. Hell with that.

I sent him his money back and I recieved the programmer back in the mail. I then attempted to tune a buddy's truck that I met later...He has an 05 LLY andmine was an 04.5 LLY so I know that they're the same part #. I plugged it in and expected to have it vin locked and it let me tune his. It was wierd. It worked fine on my truck, didnt work on 1 other and worked on the 3rd. So I sold it to him and he's still running it.
