After doing some reading I believe that the IHI turbo on the LB7 was a good thing and don't see really why GM would go to a VVT turbo other then emmisions requirements.

When changing the turbo on an LLY from the factory VVT to a "conventional' or non VVT turbo like the GT40r Ball Bearing, do you use a tuning calibration similar to the LB7 or just use modules to trick the ecm that it still has control over the VVT?

I am intrested in a towing setup and would like to improve the efficiency of the turbo system in a 04.5 LLY.

Thanks

We use either PPE tuning or McRat EFILive tuning to defeat the VVT issues and to recurve the fuel and timing to work with the new found boost.

I recommend the GT40 or HTT for towing use, they have both shown great reliability and improved performance on LLY's and LB7's.
