I've been meaning to do that for a long time and finally got the incentive here to put it together.

I use the "R" drill from my Starrett Tap and Drill chart.

I used a 5/16 for the 1/8 NPT.

For 1/8-27, the "R" drill makes it a little easier to tap the hole and is called out on all charts I have seen.

"R" is .339"
5/16 is .3125"

Not really a big dif and either should work fine though.
