I tried getting an answer to this question via PM but I haven't gotten a response yet so I assume the question is not an easy one to answer.....

Here's the deal...

I will be taking off the head on my Dad's 97 next week. Lately (when it has been ridiculously cold outside) the truck will throw a P1214 on very rare occasions. This is the TDC offset code.

I am thinking that it is throwing the code because the ECM is asking for more advance than the IP can give because the timing is not quite set right.

Is this thinking correct? If so, what way should I rotate the IP to get it back into line so that the optic can see the whole range of timing? I don't have access to TECH 2 or equivalent so I would like to get the timing as close as possible without having to take it in to Mr. Goodwrench.

Thanks for the help,

Chris

Ya gotta PM - but basically, should get a scan, first, to see where it is now.
