truck lurches on take off like a slipping tranny, shifts become sloppy, temps go up to about 230. truck runs solo at all times, no trailer, no loads. truck does have the snap that it did new. was in the shop at 6000 miles for blown intake gasket, so this truck has been a problem child for a while. dont use tow/haul. the invoice says check fluid level, check TCM for shift business, replace TCM.

Why don't you repost this in the Ask dmaxalliTech forum tomorrow. When Eric gets back from vacation I'm sure he would have some input on this. This sounds like a very odd failure and the fix sounds odder. I'm wondering if this dealer isn't just throwing parts at the problem without really knowing what's wrong. Let's face it 1 computer fails okay. 2 Computers fail??? HUH?? Either something is damaging them or the dealer doesn't have a clue. Either way they aren't fixing it are they??

I dont think its the TCM, Its a tranny issue 230 degree temps from a tranny is NOT normal. Are the techs at your service dept. competent?....Sounds like high temps are being caused by slipping or slipping is causing high temps. Replacing the TCM wouldnt fix this issue....its a bad tranny or something no right

Just my opinion TCM is not the culprit

i'll repost in the other forum. thanks for the replies. seemed quite odd to me that the TCM was junk again too. like i said earlier, this truck has been a problem child. may just have to take it to a different dealer.

Mine was replaced @ 3400miles. It was a $900 item. The real problem as it turned out was the valve body. However, symptoms were different from what you are experiencing. Good luck

Sound like more a problem with the dealer then the truck

Would like to know what codes etc were stored in it to make them believe that there is an issue with it (tcm)

dealer didn't say what codes. guess i'll take it to a different dealership and see what happens.

Might be your torque converter instead. I just got my truck back from having it replaced (at 18K!
) and my symptoms were similar to yours. Although mine ran hot I never hit 230 though.
