I have a 01 with a 6sp zf and a friend has a new 06 with a 6sp ali and he wants to swap. Has anybody done this? I know the ecms will have to be programmed, All the tcm and harness would have to be swapped, My question is will the 01 ecm work with the 06 tcm? IM pretty sure the clutch pedal assm will interchange, I guess im looking for any input good or bad on doing this. Thanks

The quick answer is no it can't be done.
The long answer is anything can be done with enough time, money, knowledge and effort.
The bottom line is that it likely isn't worth it.
The 06 TCM will not communicate with the 01 ECM for starters.
Even if they were both 01's it would be a fairly difficult swap. 06 to 01 makes it much more complicated.
