I'm wondering how my stock LLY Duramax would do against a stock Z71, in the 1/4 mile. I've had two Z71's, a 99, and a 01. I'm thinkin it would be a good race. Does anyone know what kind of elapsed time a stock LLY would do in a 1/4. I'm guessing somewhere around 16 sec?

I'd guess that with a decent boosted launch you can probably run in the mid-upper 15s. I'd be surprised if the Z71 can do much better than an 18 sec 1/4.

The 99 1/2 ton 4wd will do a mid to high 16 second run, at least that is was mine would do. With a good driver in 2wd with limited slip the truck will get to low to mid 16s. The LLY in a boosted launch in 4wd will beat these times.

I have killed a couple from a roll with just a HT on level 3 (haven't raced any with my Predator) !!

I don't know how the 5.3 runs, but a Nephew of mine has a 4.8 with a High output 5.3 sticker. And I have raced him playing around. I gave him a 3 second head start, and by the time I hit 75-80 I was already in front of him. But then my truck isn't stock, nor is it a LLY. I would guess his sticker is worth at least 1-2 rwhp After all, it does say High Output.

Thanks for the replies. I ran my LLY thru the 1/4 last nite from a very slow roll in 4 hi. It did 15 using the timer on the DIC. So I would say you guys are right on the money.

At the dragway last year a bone stock 05 reg cab lly was running 16 plus. It was very consistant as well

The only thing the new 5.3 and the "OLD" 327 has in common is displacement, totaly different design from the classic small block. And no, a '99 5.3 has no chance against an LLY. The '99 was rated at 275hp, in 2k they raised the 5.3 to 285hp. My stock LLY will take my Brother-in Law's 04' 5.3 from a dig to speed limiter. The only time I have my hands full is starting at 30mph, he kicks down to 1st. and can turn 6k, so I have to play a little catch up from that speed until my turbo spools.
