Pretty sure you
Based on what you've typed, it sounds as though you want to move the starter for the engine off of the block and onto the inner fender or to the hub which rides in the spindle, so I think that is where the confusion is. I think there is some terminology where there is a breakdown in communication. In all seriousness, could you please rephrase that and talk to us like we're four years old?Is it possible to relocate the starter for a 93 Chevy C2500 6.5TD. I removed my windshield wiper reservoir and have that empty space there and thought I might be able to mount my start there and bolt it down on the driver side wheel hub. Thoughts?
Let me ask you this .So to dumb this down.. the starter will remain under the hood. Where my windshield washer tank sat is about a foot roughly from driver side battery. I removed that tank because it didn't work. I have plenty of room in that area to place starter I believe. I would mount the start to that side wall or on the arch of the front wheel, staying under the hood. That's my thought. Hope this helps. Plus it would be less pain in the ass trying to get to it all the time.
If you relocate it to where the washer fluid tank was then how would you connect it back to the ring gear for it to be able to start the motor? This one is what I would like to relocate. It's behind the passenger front wheel back towards the firewall
Ask and ye shall receiveI’ve always toyed with the idea of finding a way to mount a starter to an engine with a broken block like we sometimes commonly see on the 6.2 or 6.5.Many blocks could be salvaged if we could find a way to use for instance a different starter such as from a Deere 2020 or 6.9 diesel as an example with a two hole flange with a special made adapter plate of some sort.
I’m sure something could be fabricated in the event a broken block couldn’t be repaired.
I just seen it roughly a month ago so who knows how long he has seen it. Was looking for something and stumbled across it. When you said something about it it took me a while to remember what site I seen it on. Hopefully it will save quite a few good blocks from a meeting with the scrap yard. That’s outstanding👍
Thanks for sharing that.I hadn’t visited Leroy’s website in quite awhile and didn’t know this kit existed.
That is a welcomed fix to a long known problemI just seen it roughly a month ago so who knows how long he has seen it. Was looking for something and stumbled across it. That kit definitely solves every issue if a broken block exists.Definitely beats welding up a broken casting and crossing your fingers that it lasts.I just seen it roughly a month ago so who knows how long he has seen it. Unfortunately, no… the starter must connect to the block, and be accessible to the flywheel… and the motor only has a single access point to those surfaces. So to dumb this down.. the starter will remain under the hood.
