I have just purchased a new Optimizer 6500 from the factory. It's only a long block. So it needs a fuel pump. I understand that the DB2 from my 6.2 isn't acceptable for the turbo 6500. Can I use a DB2831-5209, and swap the 24 volt solenoid?

Yes you certainly can.I’ve installed 5209 pumps and simply swapped top governor covers.
