Anyone that owns a late model GM/Chevrolet car or truck (2000-2006) that has had speedometer problems needs to go to www.nhtsa.com and file a complaint. This is the first step to getting GM to recall these vehicles for this growing problem. Remember, there is strenght in numbers!

Filed mine!

I have an '05 that has a speedo that "hangs" or says i'm going faster than I am.... GM acts like they know nothing. Filed my complaint with the NHTSA.com web site...we should all do the same!

I have mixed emotions about this. How long is a manufacturer supposed to be responsible for a product, especially past the warranty period. In the case of safety, especially if a defect was known about, I can understand and support.

If you talk to a mechanic at any dealership, they will tell you of problem issues for certain models - no matter what make or manufacturer. From a practicle side, we complain about the cost of cars which drives manufacturers to use the lowest bidding supplier. Then we complain when something breaks past the warranty period.

BTW: there have been postings here about GM extending the warranty on guage clusters - but I don't remember the details.

I had mine fixed a few years ago. At the time my dealership said warenty would cover it, Then a few months later I got billed saying I owed them for the gauge cluster.

Tom, this is happening on ALL trucks sold by GM since 2003. We're not alone. If it was a small number, that would be one thing...but how many "speedo doesnt work" threads have we seen in the last year? It'll happen to almost everyone eventually.
