Well tonight while trying to pass a car the truck wouldn't throttle above 2500 rpm's and bellowed alot of black smoke. At the next stop sign I accellerated hard to see if it was just that one time but it did it again but got worse and through the "CEL". For the rest of the way home it would not rev over 1800 rpm's. Temps outside this morning was 1 F and when it happened it was 17 F.
Called the dealer and they said to bring it in do to clogged fuel filter which they just put on last Friday. After getting off the phone with them I drove it into the dealer and all power was back but still had the "CEL".
This last Saturday I drove south to Tennesse and I live in Northern Illinois.
Question #1 Is the dealer correct saying it is a clogged filter and how would it clog that fast or was the fuel just gelling on me?
Question #2 Is there a way for me to reset the CEL myself so I don't have to go to the dealer next time this happens? If so what unit will reset my error codes?
