Ok heres the lowdown on my company work truck. its got 126000 and a few problems. first thing is it smokes terrible bluish white smoke if it sits and idles for a while like 20 mins or more. then when i drive it itll put out a huge cloud of smoke for about 100 ft then quit. but at idle anytime u can definately see white smoke badly. heres some back ground to maybe help. i work for a truckin company that hauls trash to landfills. this truck is 2wd and gets stuck all the time in the landfill. so i give it hell to get it unstuck. plus i ran it out of fuel one time and played hell tryin to get it started after i did all the nessecary stuff short of ether. well i finally used ether cause i was on the side of the road at 9 at nite and i needed to get to the shop still. so i unhooked the air heater, took off the intake tube and had my buddy crank it while i fed it ether till it ran on its own, at one point tho it ether locked, you know, like deadheaded so i quit for a while. well i gave it ether for 30 sec until it ran on its own. the other problem is that when i really get on it, sometimes from 2nd to 3rd shift it bogs. what happens is i get about 3 grand and the power just kills out and it lingers there until i let off or i hold it to the floor the it pick up 500rpm and shifts. but it just hangs there for about 5-10 secs until shifting. and im not sure but i think i see a little black smotke also. well any help i will certainly appreciate.

The tranny shift problem can be telling you that it's time to replace the fuel filter.

Ya ill try changin the filter this week. Ive only worked for this company for about a month and a half, so i dont know how well its been maintained. BTW it acted up today and the smoke cloud is definatley white and smells like raw fuel. i looked at someother posts about fuel injectors. i wonder if it could be a problem. Im sure GM would werk with the company seeing as all our personnel trucks are chevys. thanks for the advice.

Alomost sure your smoking problem is caused by bad injectors - which should have a 200k waranty...
