Fuel in Crankcase
2001 Chev 2500HD - 90,000 miles
Just had the same issue that some of the others posted. Service engine light came on and truck immediately dropped to 35 MPH. Found a dealer in that area and had to leave the truck for two days. They said that the code showed "gelled fuel in filter". They replaced the fuel filter, and everything else was fine. The outside temp was about 18, and I do measure the additive with a baby bottle, so I don't know what that is about.
Then within 35 miles of the replaced fuel filter, it started to run rough at an idle up to 1100 RPM and it developed a heavy smell of deisel fuel from under the hood. Took it to the local dealer. Fuel in the crankcase. Needed all new injectors - and I think that they have to replace the injector pump. I'll find out when I pick up the truck and will post the actual repair. This dealer said something about a service bulletin that was issued concerning injectors, but it was hard to hear him on the phone.
Warantee covered the $4,000 expense.
