I hear lots of stories of people driving down the road and the IP quits working. Is there anything to look for that will tell you you pump is about to quit? That way you dont end up stranded in the middle of a intersection like I hear stories about.

There's lots of different failures that can happen to DB2 (I assume thats the breed we're talking about here) pumps.

The only real sudden death is from a head siezure, which is probably the most expensive one too. Fuel contamination is by far the biggest cause of this failure. Gasoline, water, dirt, lint any of those can cause a siezure, but not always, sometimes they just cause accelerated wear and you get advance failure or hard starting.
