I'm looking at a 2001 2500HD crew cab long bed with 68,000 miles. They are asking $24,000 but I think I can talk them down to $20-22,000. They let me take it home overnight and I'm checking it out. I scanned it and got a P0304 and P0307 which are misfires in cylinder's #4 and #7. It drove fine when I test drove it so I'm guessing they are stored older codes. Here is a link to the VIS info.

Looks like it has been in for quite a few things. This could either be bad cause its a problem truck, or it could be good cause its basically a new truck now.:)

Another thing, I was looking it over and I saw a toggle switch mounted on the lower kick panel, just above the go pedal. This isn't factory is it? Anyone know what It could be? I called up the dealership and he's going to track down the previous owner so I can ask him a few ?'s. Also I have the winter cover on, since its about 20º now and supposed to be in the teens the rest of this week. I looked around for the block heater and it wasn't in the usual spot, the owners manual says near the power steering pump. I found it on the passenger side up near the radiator, so is this a factory heater or aftermarket or what?

So do you guys think I should but this truck? I'm leaning towards yes, but I figured I would ask some people who know more about this stuff than me.

Its on the pass side.....most people fish em out and place the cord either out the bumper or grill or out the hood.

No idea what the switch was used for.....whats it do when you turn it on?

Have the dealer check the balance rates and watch em check em

I haven't messed with the switch, I don't want to mess something up. What balance rates? For the injectors?

I'm going in this weekend and will probably end up buying it. Will they check the injectors for free if I ask them too? Anything else I should have them check out, compression test, change all the fluids? Also the warranty, 5 year 100,000 miles, would it still be under warranty since it only has 68,000 miles or is it void because its over 5 years.
