I was looking over the agreement to buy, first they accidently checked "used truck" as the one I got, when obviously the thing better be new, I mean with the rebates and all, I would think it has to be. Second, under mileage, it says 500 even, I wonder if they just do that if the miles are less than 500 to avoid constant updates, because if this thing seriously has 500 miles when it gets here I will be pissed, especially being a manual transmission, I have no idea as to the driving skill of the people who put 500 on it...ugh..I am in a frenzy.

I wouldn't worry, (although if you can get it changed, you should) because you will have a title and as long as it states the truck was bought new then everything is fine. If it is indeed titled as used, you had better get a super deal on it.


As for the miles if I were you I would not except it without giving it a real good once over, and a long test drive. GM now has a program where you can take a new vehicle home for the night, and maybe up to a weekend. (Of course you have to have a drivers license, insureance, and qualified credit.

I am very familiar with that program, as they loaned me a new 04 until mine shows up...had to go through that process, but the more I think about it, I think the miles was just plugged in as 500 since the finance guy was in a hurry with me nagging him and all, and the miles were unknown since I know for a fact he didn't call the dealer. I think I got worked up for nothing...haha

FYI...since it does not have a locker, it will be very easy to see if they abused it, the right rear will be worn more if checked closely.

I wouldn't worry about it, these trucks are tough. If anything comes up with it after you take it home, and it did indeed have 500 (or close to) miles on it when you picked it up, you can point that out to the service department and they should fix you up better than new.


Mine had 40 miles on it when I picked it up, my dad's had ~400. He got a good deal on it and there was nothing wrong with it, the miles were likely from dealerships shuffling it back and forth, so he's happy.

When I say he got a good deal on it, the miles on the truck had nothing to do with that.. I got a good deal on mine too for that matter, I was just trying to point out that it's most likely not going to be an issue in the grand scheme of things.

If I have not broken anything yet with 27K miles I wouldn't sweat 500.

Although it is not critical, I would make certain for sure that you are getting what you are expecting. I was looking at a used unit that only had 1,000 miles on it. It was bought from a fleet that was never used (found that info on carfax.com). Since it came from Atlanta, I knew that it could not have been driven much by the Fleet.

A few points to ponder..
- If it is used and you decide to finance it through GM, you won't get 0% or any incentives.

- For the used truck, I believe the warranty extends beyond 36k miles. See the GM warranty details for certified used cars.

- Some finance companies have different rates for new and used vehicles. Although some consider any miles below 12,000 to be new.

Like I said above, I was looking at a used unit. But, with the 0% and some working on the dealer, I was able to get a new unit with more options for the same monthly payment!

Just beware.

If in doubt, go to CarFax.com, subscribe for a few $, put in the VIN number and get a complete history. If it is used, it should show up there as having a title issued. I think you can check for an existing record before subscribing. That's what I did.

My '01 was a dealer locate from NY. I insisted it be trucked to RI. Dealer said no problem. Picked up the truck, 275 on the clock. I didn't refuse the truck, but I made sure I was compensated for the miles. Dealer was reluctant, but when I told them that they could keep the truck they just went to NY and drove back, they talked my language. I told them $500 bucks. They told me $100. I told them punt. We settled on $1 a mile 0 $275. I was happy. You're dropping a big wad of cash on your NEW truck. Make sure you are happy. You're the boss.


That said, the miles won't matter. My '03 had 2 miles on it when I got it - different dealer. I got my $2 from my salesman...

I bought mine in march 01, they drove it down from Northern CA, had 200 miles on it......


It has 51,000 on it now with no problems.....

It is actually pretty funny how I got all worked up, they just had to put something in the form higher than what they guessed it would be, and it is being flat bedded from kentucky to florida, I told them it is not to be driven. The dealer has had the truck for 81 days I found out *shrugs*, I will know alot more on wednesday when I pick it up, the dealer assured me it should have a minimum of miles..ugh..I hate being a tight wound person

My truck came from a dealership about 4 hours north of here.. My dealer traded a 1500HD for this one, so I offered to drive the 1500HD up there, and drive my new one home. It worked out great, I got to enjoy a nice drive for free, drive the new baby home, and didn't pay any delivery charge.
