This light went on for about two seconds on start up tonight. Any ideas what would cause it? Truck runs fine the trans and diff fluid have been changed well ahead of schedual.

you probably need a new switch. see if you have this code.

How do you read the codes?

if you have a programmer for your truck you should be able to read it with that, other wise most auto parts stores have a scanner you could rent...otherwise a dealer can. but if your transfer case still works fine and everything seems ok im more than certain about that switch. have replaced 3 in the 9 chev's i own. its a simple fix.

Most cheap scanners do not read BCM codes.

It is very common like some have said. We do two or more a month

yeah thats true, forgot that its a bcm code, that will have to be done by a dealer...but more than likely a switch...common in the new chev's

Its the switch on your dash. Weather permitting

When mine went out on my last truck, I noticed that I had to push the switch a little harder or push it a few times to get it to work. Shortly after, I got the light. My dealer had one on the shelf-I guess it's common.

So it is the 4X4 switch on the dash? I will try that
