I just received the results of my second fuel test. They are considerably better than the first. I couldn't have gotten these results without the help of George and Joe at AV Lubricants and Alan Betker. AV Lubricants truly believe in customer satisfaction. Alan sent me the procedure he used to get his sample. I followed it as close as possible. I varied a little from his because of my mount location. I am a believer in " cleanliness is next to Godliness when taking the sample. George said: That just a gust of wind is enough to screw up a sample". I parked my truck in the garage over night with the doors shut to make sure the dust was settled. By the time I took the final sample, I had flushed 2+ gallons of fuel through the hoses and bottle. The extra work pays off. Later! Frank

Frank,

Great results from your Racor 660 supplemental filter set-up. Looks like the Racor supplemental, whether Pre or Post OEM, produces great results.

Below are the results from the fuel sample that I took in August of this year on my Racor Pre-OEM set-up. It is amazing how close the fuel cleanliness results are.

We will need to get Bill (jbplock) to update the fuel analysis spreadsheet.

Regards,

Alan

Frank & Alan,

Great Results ! Definitely worth the bucks to get that warm fuzzy feeling. You guys are reeping the benefits of a long fuel system life that will hopefully outlast the engine/truck.

Alan,

What brand of fuel do you burn ? Gotta love that cetane number !

Another thought,,,,,, What is reported in the Fuel Analysis reports that we receive from AVLUBE is Cetane Index. The Cetane Index is different than Cetane Number. The Index is derived from the Distillation and API Gravity numbers, which are measured quantities. Cetane Number is measured directly, but is more expensive to obtain. Most likely why we have an Index reported instead of a Number. I also remember reading that the Cetane Index may not be accurate if an additive is used. (A disclaimer - the above is what I remember reading while researching the data that appears in the fuel analysis reports. I did this research about a year ago and the old memory is not as good as it used to be!! )

Those are good numbers Frank, hopefully this will increase our life to at least 150K. The only problem I saw in the picture is your fuel filter drive belt may be loose

I run Sinclair most of the time with 2 ounces of FPPF with any fill up over 10 gallons. That picture is a little deceiving. The engine is mounted a few degrees low in the rear but the filter is level. Alan, I don't about the Cetane Index # for sure but I do believe it is the actual cetane that we are concerned with. I am sure George will straighten us out. Later! Frank
