HEY MAC, DONT CHOKE YOUR CHICKEN TO MUCH OR ITLL PUKE
I REPLACED MY 4TH UJOINT TODAY AND FINALLY FOUND A GREASABLE REPLACEMENT ONE. GO TO NAPA AND ASK FOR A 330 UJOINT. THATS NAPA'S PART NUMBER. THE PARTS BOOK DOESNT SHOW IT TO FIT THE DMAX BUT IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE. Edited by: PEANUTGRWR

What are you doing to chew up so many U-joints? Are you sure that the t-case and rear end isn't out of align.
Mac

The U-Joint for a D/A is a Spicer 1410 series. Precision Calls for Part number 330. It is a greasable joint with the zerk in the body of the joint. You should be able to find it at a part store for about $16 retail. Precision also makes a "severe duty" joint Part number 295. This u-joint has a flush mounted zerk in the end of one of the caps. This will be harder to find. There is also the Spicer Life series. A good parts store will be able to special order it or a Spicer in about 10 days. You might also call a Local driveshaft shop. Be very careful about the brand. There is a bunch of junk out there. Knockoffs with name brand part numbers on the box

TOMAC, I DUNNO WHAT THE HELL THE PROBLEM IS. IN MY FAMILY WE HAVE 3 D/A REG CABS AND BETWEEN THE 3 PICKUPS WE HAVE WENT THROUGH 7 UJOINTS IN THE PAST 2 YRS. THEY ARENT ABUSED IN ANY WAY-------OTHER THAN MINE FROM TIME TO TIME.
EVERYTHING IS ALIGNED. THE ONE I REPLACED YESTERDAY WAS THE FRONT ONE AND THATS THE ONLY FRONT ONE THAT HAS BEEN CHANGED ON ANY OF THEM. THE ONLY WAY I KKEW THAT IT WAS GOING OUT WAS THAT I STARTED GETTING QUITE A BIT OF VIBERATION NOISE COMMING UP THROUGH MY 4X4 LEVER. I GOT UNDER IT AND CHECKED THERE WAS NO SLACK WHAT SO EVER IN IT, NO CLANG WHEN I PUT IT INTO GEARE OR ANYTING. BUT I TOOK THE DRIVESHAFT OUT ANYWAY AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS SIEZED AND WOULDNT PIVOT AT ALL. YOU GUYS WITH PUSH BUTTON 4X4 MIGHT WANNA CHECK YOURS FROM TIME TO TIME SINCE YOU DONT HAVE THE LEVER IN THE FLOOR TO TELESCOPE THE VIBERATION UP INTO THE CAB. THE GM REPLACEMENT JOINTS ARE $80 COMPARED TO THE NAPA $15 THAT CAN BE GREASED!!!!

Do you drive through a lot of high water??
I LIVE IN WEST TEXAS THERE IS NEVER ANY WATER HERE PERIOD. EVERY TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD A FAILURE THE ONLY WAY WE COULD DETECT IT IS BY PUTTING IT I REVERSE AND THEY BAD JOINT WILL CLICK SLIGHTLY. THERE NEVER HAS BEEN ANY EXSESIVE SLACK OR PLAY IN THE JOINT. IM SURE THAT IF A PERSON RAN ONE FOR ANY EXTENDED TIME WITH OUT CHANGING IT IT WOULD DEVELOPE SLACK. AS I STATED ON THE SAME POST ON "THE OTHER BOARD" ITS USUALLY JUST ONE CUP THAT IS DRY AND THE REST LOOK PERFECT. ALTHOUGH THE FRONT JOINT THAT I REPLACED YESTERDAY ALL 4 CUPS WERE DRY.
I'm at 60,000 Peanut with no sign of U-Joint problems. I don't haul anything.

I've always been a fan of greasable anything.
AS WE ALL KNOW----ANYTHING THAT CAN BE LUBED
CAN LAST LONGER. BY THE WAY IM AT 85K

With all I put my truck thru I keep an good eye on my U-joints. So far so good with over 65,000 miles and alot of truck pulling, dragracing, heavy towing and even some baja-ing in the sand dunes thrown in for good luck.Edited by: mtomac
