I saw an 04 LLY advertised the other day, and it had 2 scoupes on the hood. Does that guarantee some kind of forced air induction, or might the fancy hood be there just for looks?

Thanks for all the great info here!:)

you got a turbo, you already got force air. hood scoops would have absolutly no advantage to you besides an appearence. if your that hard core, pull your head light out and run some tubing to that and youd have a full out race car.

Most are non-functional, and making one functional for our type of setup would require a lot of work. Having said that though, I had wondered about using them for engine cooling possibilities, especially if you live a warm climate and have one of the older model trucks prone to overheating.

BANKS is coming out with a scoop for my banks air i was looking at building my own until i seen they where making one

taking out the head light was no real use compared to doing it with my old AFE because on my banks air it sucks from the bottom:eek::

the hood scoop may help vent a little bit of heat but not enough to stop the overheaters imo

I have hood scoops and i wish they would be functional, i too was trying to think of away to make something work for a lil added benefit. the only reason they are on there is cause i bought it that way and i got a good deal on the truck i really couldnt turn it down.

Ditch the scoop look.

Spend your money on power upgrades :D
Either that or get a hood that you can actually use!

The hood does look mean, do like it, is it American made and is it steel or fiberglass.

Mine is Suncoast creations from USA. Its glass and feeds air right over top of my filter pod and fits A1. Before I put it on my Intake Air Temp was always about 150 deg. As soon as I put the hood on Temp runs at 80-90 deg all day long unless I am banked up in traffic. Engine is much more responsive. Wouldnt be without it. Say what you like. Remember we are in the middle of summer over here in Oz.
