I recently traded my 03 2500HD lb7 for a 06 3500 lbz duelly. The rpm redline on the 03 was appriximately 3400 rpm if I remember right. On the 06, its 4800 rpm. Is this for engine brakeing or what? Asked my dealer. They didn't know.

yep, its the downhill grade braking redline

Yup... if you remember on the '03, you had the dashed redline, then it became solid.
Both trucks will defuel around 3400.

People were getting paranoid and calling GM because on grades they were getting into the dashed redline, so GM removed it.

I wonder what GM would do if I called nervous about the fuel gauge being on "E"? :D
