Hi guys, getting the heads back on and have a question about installing the rockers. When tightening them down to 40ftlbs the rockers become insanely tight. No movement possible on them. First time I am doing this and have no idea if this is normal. Nothing was changed no engine rotation and all the pushrods and the rocker arm assemblies went back in exactly as they came out. You probably don't have the push rods seated in the lifters. Don't force it, take it apart again and use a flash light to make certain the push rods are centered in each lifter. Roll each rod on a flat plate to make certain they are not bent.

It helps to roll the engine over for each pair so no valve on the rocker shaft is open.

Also make sure the bronze end is up on the pushrods.

You should be able to move most of the pushrods with your fingers, exept the cylinders that are currently on a compression stroke.

If most of them are thight, something's wrong.
Remember to put the curved spacers back under the rocker shafts, they're kinda important.

And change the nylon rocker buttons while you have everything off, they're like 2 bucks a piece and are easy to install.

Pushrods should be loose except during intake or exhaust portions of the cycle.
