Well, it looks like GM has finally make their hitch a little more "beefy".
Most of us will still replace it though...

We had to replace a customers bumper and hitch from a collision, and the replacement hitch had a design change, and is made of bigger tubes and brackets. New part number : 15897901, GM list: $ 295.00.
Looks like the advertised ratings are stil the same as well.

For that kind of money, I'll still take a good Aftermarket hitch...:)

Sorry, but technically the GM hitch is aftermarket. GM doesn't make any hitches.

The problem is this is what you get when you buy parts from the low bidder. It's too bad GM doesn't offer a 'heavier hitch' option (at a reasonable price). If I could have upgraded to a class V for a $100, I would have done it in a heart beat.

Well, yeah, if you want to get technical, the hitch is not GM, and neither are a WHOLE lot of parts, but I'm sure you knew what I meant...:)
