Has anyone removed the outer wheels on their dually at the drag strip? If so, how much time did you drop? I'm at 13.4 right now weighing in at 8,040 pounds. Thursday night I was considering removing the outer tires and the spare to see If I can get closer to the 12.99 number. Just curious if anyone could give me a good idea of what to expect.. Thanks...

I can't give you a solid number, but I will say it would definitely help. Not only does it remove weight, but it removes rotating weight, which is the worst kind of weight when you are accelerating.

i thought it would be cool if you could get a set of tire and wheels for the rear like the neens then get a set of narrower slicks for the front.

To answer your original question, i think you would drop a few tenths of your time.

This truck is a daily driver that I pull the quick truck and the equipment with. For some reason, I would just really like to see a 12.99 or better on the board. Thursday night at Bradenton, FL I'll remove the outside tires, and see what happens. I have a cheap Compucar bottle in a bag nitrous system as well with a 53 jet. I want it on diesel only, but the bottle is full and just asking to be used. Oh well.. I'll make a pass with diesel only, and then maybe a pass with the little shot of juice.. My 60' will be horrible because I don't want to break it again.. I'll report what happens thursday night or friday..

That would be great. Do you normally go out on saturdays? I heard there were a couple dmax's that go then. I usually do thursdays when I go. Seems like someone said there was a person that has a truck that ran 12's, and then had his son raced his other truck in the 13's. I heard there are also a few other trucks coming. I've seen video of one doing 11.80, and the other doing 12.7. Then there is a guy coming from Venice that has run 12.7, though he's done some more to it now. I'll probably end up being the slowest one there.. I enjoy watching others as much as racing my dually.. Should be a good night..

Hopefully the neens will get on here. They have a dually they run slicks on.;)
Can't really give a solid before/after comparison...With the Alcoa/steel inner combo, it ran high 97 and low 98 MPH in October, high 98s and low 99s in Dec. and Jan. with the wide singles....Same track, different conditions...Obviously the M/T 16X12s with M&H DOT slicks are alot lighter, but hard to say how much improvement there was, but I doubt you'll drop 4 tenths...If nothing else, they look awesome...

Well, I just got back from the track. There were over 250 cars running tonight, and I was in a long traffic jam on the way to the track. I didn't get a chance to take the outside wheels off.. I did remove the torque mgt.. Wow, what a difference.. I torqued it up between 1800-2000 rpm at launch. I was scared to go higher. The big black pig cut a 1.78 60' and ran 13.04 at 103 mph. It did an 8.2 in the eighth. I can't wait to remove the wheels now.. I was going to run a shot of nitrous, though my nozzle was cracked that goes in the intake. Over all, I'm very pleased with the night.. I want that 12.99.. haha... I did make a second pass.. I didn't torque it up near as much, and my 60' was in the 1.9's. It ran 13.23 at 103..

I saw you there but I was chatting with Kevin. The lines started moving & my youngest was bored. It was about 10:30 or so. Good running truck & sharp looking you have. What's the story with the ford dually that was spraying & running 14.5 & up? The black truck, it looked lowered.

Thanks guys.. The truck 60's 2.0 with torque mgt on. It did 1.78 last night. That's .22 seconds on the 60', and then my over all ET dropped .43 seconds. The black ford dually was a lowered 4x4 on 24'' wheels with low profile tires. He was a nice guy, just needs to be pointed in the right direction with performance parts. He said he had spent a lot of money on a Viper custom tune. I don't know much about the Ford stuff, though I hadn't heard of it. He had the head o-ringed, and was spraying nitrous and propane. I don't know the shop he's working with exactly, but they didn't touch the trans. It was bone stock. He asked me why it wouldn't shift unless he let off the throttle when he was running it hard. Oh well.. I asked a couple of the ford guys there to point him in the right direction for a complete trans, and they said ATS offers one.. He said he'd call and order one.. He said he also wanted a turbo and injectors.. Anyway.. Nice guy.. Nice truck.. Just needs Ford info..
