Looking for a remote start designed to work w/my LLY (delay) that will work with my factory key fob. Is there such an animal?

Is that all it's good for? Which one is it? Do you have a link?

Off hand I don't have a link but there are some out there. The factory remote is very limited on range compared to aftermarket remotes that are as much as 5000 feet.

I have one installed on my truck, and i'm very happy with it. I got it installed at ABC Warehouse/Mickey Shorr. It was just over $100, one of the DEI varieties.

Max Power is correct in that the range isn't as good as aftermarket setups, but it is definately greater than 25 feet. Mine is typically somewhere in the 40 ft. range. And I like that the key fob still looks OEM, and I don't have to carry around another transmitter!

The advantage to an astrostart model is that one can get a 2 way feedback system so it tells you that it is running, unlocked etc. The key fob has the option to run multiple cars also if you have both the keys on the ring. The astrostart model works verry well as far as not having bugs with the system. I had the dealer install an automate on the wifes malibu years ago and I was in the shop with it at least once every 3 months. Ended up removing it and getting an astrostart in that before I sold it. I have an older astrostart in my pickup now but am waiting to replace it with a newer 2 way system from Maxpower.

As far as I know, there isn't a button on your FACTORY key fob that would allow you to remotely start your truck. But astrostart has a item called RI-GM-1 that increases your factory (not dealer installed) remote starter. If your vehicle is so equipped.

Cut and paste:

The new RI-GM-1 interface works with GM vehicles that come with a starter. These factory starters have a remote limited to less than 150 feet*. The RI-GM-1 lets clients start their vehicles from over 1500 feet* away while keeping all their other factory installed features.
The RI-GM-1 can be installed securely and easily in under 20 minutes using only three wires in the starter systems of the following GM vehicles:
  • Buick Allure, Lacrosse and Terraza 2005-2006
  • Chevrolet Malibu 2004 to 2006, Uplander 2005-2006
  • Pontiac G6 2005-2006, Montana Sv6 2005-2006
  • Saturn Relay 2005-2006
Other vehicles will be added in the coming months – check our Web site (www.astroflex.com) or AstroChart software for more compatible models.
