I'm going to ask a dumb question, but if I don't ask I won't know. How do I identify what rear diff. is on my truck? Is there a simple visual method for this or what? Also does this change with the 2001 to presant trucks? Thanks for all responces.

i think you might have a 14 bolt because that is what i had in my 1998 GMC or you can just pull off you diff cover and id it that way

Look for 4 to 6, forward-facing bolts about where the rear diff pinion seal is located. If you have bolts (and I would guess you do), then you have the Corporate 14-bolt as mentioned above. 10.5" ring gear, full-floater... pretty darn tuff rear axle by all standards. Comparable to a rear Dana 70. Cheers.

pull your hub cap off. if there is a hub then you have a full float 10.5, if no hub it is a 9.5 semi float 14 bolt. more than likely being a 2500 it is the semi float
