Went to change the diff oils today. Got the front done. No problem. Get to the rear and noticed that there was no drain plug, saw the fill plug, 3/8 rachet fits perfict. But no drain. So I am gussin that I just take the diff cover of to drain. Though if I do that I guess I would need a new gasket, or can RTV do the job. It doesn't seem like bad idea to have to pull the cover, You can inspect the gears abit. I just thought there would be a drain plug. And also were is model of the diff located. I was looking around the carrier housing and found nothing.

you have a 14 bolt rear axle. 9.5" is the semifloater, 10.5" is the full floater. if you dont have a drain plug built into the bottom of the housing by the carrier then just unscrew the cover. rtv works just fine, just make sure to clean the gasket surface after you've drained the oil.

PUll the cover, only way to do it. RTV has been used before but gaskets arent very expensive.

Got Er Done

So it's a 10 1/2" diff, found out. Took a bunch of pics, I will post soon. looked pretty good. The oil was almost full, and not burnt. The ring gear wear pattern looked good. No major metal on the magnet, just slivers and a couple flakes. Not anything that looks like bearing breaking down. A pain in the #ss to fill though.
