The rad on my 2006 decided to crap the bed on my way home today. Best I can tell on the side of a canyon road is a big crack. Luckily my buddy was 10 minutes behind me. He hooked up to my trailer and is currently taking it the 3 hour drive home. He’s coming back with his big flatbed and we’ll get her home tonight.

I remember reading a while back that the rads changed and certain years are much better than others. Can someone please school me on this.

So we are having a run on radiators this year. Our 2006 started puking on the 4th of July, one of the 2007s is dripping and the other 2007 is showing some dampness. So we ordered a radiator for the 2006 and one for the drippy 2007. They came in and I compared them and I noted the differences.

Here they are: The 2006 core is 1 5/8 thick and the 2007 is 2 1/16 thick. The 2007 has extra bracing. There is also some minor differences in the plastic ends caps evident in the pictures.

Oh yeah. One other difference: The 2006 cost us $1008. The 2007 cost us $456.

Unfortunately we can't return the 2006 one, but I saw nothing that would stop a guy from putting a 2007 radiator in a 2006 truck. It's stronger, thicker (should cool better) and less than half the price.
