Some time in the past there was a thread about an intake air box mod. that was for sale by someone on the diesel place. it got its air supply from outside the engine compartment. I have been looking and havent been able to find it. can anybody lead me in the right direction to find out about it? is it still available? did it work?
Thank you; Jim
Actually, there were two former members offering similar kits. One has already been discussed in the above posts. The other is discussed in this post:
http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44278&highlight=cold+air+intake+kit
Both are similar, but there are differences in the details. Unfortuneately, I do not know what the differences are or what the advantages/disadvantages are.
Looks like the first one is still available and others have given you hints on contacting that member. I do not know if the second kit is still offered. If I wanted to find a contact for that former member, I think I would bring up a search engine and search on his sceen name and Duramax, then go from there.
From reading various posts over the last couple of years, both products were able to actually provide cooler intake air, so they did "work".
I do not know if there is a potential for the intake to suck in water after the modification. That was a problem for the 2001 era DMax, so GM sealed off the fender opening with the alum. foil. I would like to know how either of these products get around that problem.
