How does the Message Center know when to illuminate the Oil Change Light? And how do I turn it off without going to the dealer? I change my own oil and also want to get rid rid of the annoying light at the same time.

:help:

Let me know if I have posted to the wrong forum. As you can tell,I don't post much. Thanks in advance. Barvis!!!!

Turn ignition on, depress accelerator to the floor 3 times. The light will then flash 5 times letting you know that it has been reset. Make sure you push all the way to the floor. As to when it comes on I think it has to do with oil temp.

at least with the 04 and up it is NOT miles driven. It depends on driving conditions, engine load, etc. The computer monitors a variety of parameters and determines when oil should be changed. Max is about 10,000 miles according to my owners manual. It could come on in much less under severe driving conditions.

Owners manual has instructions on how to reset.

some can be pretty stubborn. Be sure you get any floor mats or any other obsticales out of the way! I still can't get mine to go off after 20,000 mi. I dont have a tech2 so i guess i am sol Censored
