I just bought a Autometer NV pyro guage and it came with a 1/8" NPT probe soooo my question is since I already have a 1/4" NPT tapped hole in my manifold could I use a 1/8" to 1/4" brass bushing safely? (brass is all i can find) Anyone done this?

As long as the bushing is tapered it will probably be OK. NPT threads are tapered and seal by interference. I would check to see if the bushing is tapered, if not, then I would get a 1/4" thermocouple. You don't want a leak at the manifold.

Yes you can use the bushing.

That's exactly what I did when I installed my Nexus too.

If you look around for a hydraulic supply store you can find the bushings in Stainless Steel too if you want.

I bought my brass bushing from NAPA. It was 1/4" NPT to 1/8" NPT.
