I want to know what I can do different because there are two Dodges that I can not beat (10ft diff.).

I am running Hot juice in HI range 1st gear and weighing in at about #8000, I have the bolts in my overload springs, 295 BFG A/T at 40psi and I just was wondering what else I can do.

I don't want to put a tranny in it so is this all I can do?

Does anyone try pulling on the LO side and will the stock tranny shift to 3rd or not?

Thanks for any help we have one more pull next weekend.

Are you allowed to run hanging weights? If so build some brackets to go in where the tow hooks are and run hanging weights on the front, this helps a lot. Get more power, in 1st high I have been running a Quad/VA 225 box and it holds fine in 1st.

You can up the rev limit with a Quad can't you? I think this would help with ground speed.

The Quad will raise your RPM range, On the 03 we can get 4500+rpms. We use 3rd LO & in T/H. Put the shifter on 3 and roll on the throttle from an idle let the trany shift on its own. This is very easy on the truck, shifts are smooth, tires stay hooked. Also LO reduces trany load T/H reduces converter losses at the end off the pull.

JRmac, were you doing this with the stock tranny?

If so how long will the Allison last before upgrading if you only pull in LO range?

Thanks Robert

know it is going to last a HELL-OF-ALOT-LONGER in LO/range than in HI/range, and yes we are running a stock ALLI.

In pulling there are lots of factors (1 weight, 2 wheelbase, 3 hitch-height, 4 hitch-lenght, 5 HPower) Start with them at max/advantage, and try to keep them there. This will give you the best resualt's from your truck. RULES WERE MADE TO BE BENT, BUT NOT BROKEN!! So don't be afraid to bend a few. Use every advantage you have, because I know the leaders ARE!

Thanks JRmac,

I will try LO range this weekend and if I have the same results I will call you and Craig about different programming options.

When you are in 3rd and the weight comes on you does the truck gear down to 2nd and spin out?

I have never had it down shift to 2nd, and I think it's because of using T/Hmode and keeping the trans/shafts speeds up above the shift point?? I know alot of the guys do the math and show a higher ground speed in HI/1st, but they don't figure in converter losses. I have seen alot of trucks towards the end of a pull, there tires get slower to sometimes the point of stoping and the motor is still screaming. We have had great luck pulling in 3rd/LO with the extra RPM's the Quad gives us.

You can snuff the motor in T/H so let out of it slow at the end.

Give 3rd/LO a try this weekend and let us know what you think.

JRmac, I had a good pull last night and it will take a couple of times to get used to the shifting in 4LO. I took 3rd with a 293ft pull and the two Dodges where full pulls (one has a Suncoast auto. & the other a Mitchell clutch).

There were 15 diesels there and I felt like I did ok, but knowing you beat one of these trucks at Terra Haute with your setup has me wanting to add a box or something.

I have a card with Craigs cell phone, is this the best way to reach you? Do yall have a web site for MAC's performance?

Thanks Robert
