Okay, I did my all headlight mod, which works great according to skoryaro2's diagram (diagram in his garage pics) with the diodes. As I said the headlight mod works great. Problem is I still have to manually turn on fog lights. Now all the diodes are going right direction, good solder joint on all joints (BTW I used clear heatshrink which is a plus when looking at the diodes).

The problem I think I have is the fog lamp relay (is marked 85 where it should be) but my relay is not the same as my headlamp relays, my fog relay has five pins, and I'm wondering if this is why the fogs aren't coming on with the low beams?

No responses........everyone else must be stumped too as per my PM. You might want to repost and describe the problem more in the thread title.

Are you sure that the relay is plugged in correctly so that the #85 is in the correct position (not turned 180 degrees)? Don't know what's with having 5 connectors rather than 4 on the relay.

Once my wife gets home (she has the truck), I'll take a pic and post. With the fog lamp relay with 5 prongs, there is only one way to plug it in, otherwise it won't fit.

Okay, not the best pics. On the cover it shows the fog relay having four tabs. On the relay itself it has five, and the extra tab, middle one on the row of three is labeled 87a. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

skoryaro2, was going to edit thread title, but edit tab is gone?

I'm stumped. I checked my '05. My fog relay appears to be in the same spot as is #85. My fog relay is black also but is a different # on the relay (4 lug).

I gonna pop the relay in its spot from the DRL, and if it works (foglights), then I'll just pickup a new one (with four lug) and use it, and that should take care of my problem. The black relay for my fogs is a different number also, I just don't get why the fifth lug (and is it necessary?).

The 5th lug is for a 'normally closed' connection between terminals 30 and 87a. This is how it works:

When the relay is not energized, the relay contacts make a connection between 30 and 87a with no connection between 30 and 87.

When the relay is energized, the relay contacts move to break the connection between 30 and 87a while making a connection between 30 and 87.

Terminals 85 and 86 are used to energize the relay coil.

Hope thats clear enough to help you understand the function of that 5th terminal.
