Pre 03 Overhead Console

Has anyone tried to replace the 03 overhead console with a pre-03 overhead console? I'd like to have the home link as well as the longer console.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where one could be obtained if they'll work?

Are there other models like the suburban on yukon that are the same?

Thanks!

Haven't tried it, but I can tell you how the 99-02 mounts. The back end has a tab that slides into a slot cut into the head liner. Above the slot is a metal lip it slides on top of. The front is then retained by one screw. You can see it’s location in the picture the other thread. I’m 99% sure the front screw location is in the identical place. The short (03 style) console was used in the Denali with a sunroof. The longer version is used in the same vehicle without the sunroof.
LWM in Norman, Oklahoma (WWW.LWM.CC) was a big distributor of take offs and pull outs nation-wide from new conversions. They sell quite a few items on ebay. The supply market is starting to dry up, especially with home-link units. I stumbled onto a home-link console that was pulled from a new Astro Van or Bravada with the DIC. It is longer than the truck console. I swapped the home-link unit for my door opener compartment. I sold the extra console on ebay.
The home link is a simple 3 wire hook-up. I took quite a few pictures of the consoles to put together a how-to web page one of these days. I can get a fairly close measurement from the screw to the lip. You might be able to see if the bracket is there by removing the dome light. I too am interested in knowing if it will fit an 03.

I'll get a measurement and get something out to you tonight.
2damax,

Contact Jason at JPCustoms.com. That is what he does. He also has a short overhead console with homelink in it. He has full mounting instructions. Scarry when you start cutting the headliner!!!

Yep, the overhead consoles will work. We're actually going to start carrying the replacement console with Homelink.

Look for it on the website by the weekend.

As for the long overhead console, yes, it will work on the 03's. GM didn't change anything structurally to the cab with the 03 model year.

It's definitely scary cutting into the headliner as it's not something that's easily fixed with electrical tape. So, always start a lot smaller than you need. You can always cut more, but you don't want to over cut it.

I'll see if I can dig up some pics.
