PO756 Shift "B" solenoid

OK, I've read through a bunch of what are old threads on this code. Some suggest a simple fluid change, others suggest R&R the "B" solenoid. These are old threads. So, fast forward to todays world, what tranny fluid is recommended and since I'm draining the fluid, is it not a best practice to go ahead, drop the pan, change the solenoid and filter too and be done with it? BTW, my ride has 140K and not history of a fluid change......

I recently performed this on my 2000 Silverado. I sourced new ACDelco A and B solenoids for close to $20 each via Rock Auto. It made sense to replace them both since you need top drop the pan. As you mentioned the filter was also changed out. The bad solenoid did ohm out bad. The other solenoid was just within the ohm range so replacing both them was a good move.

Good point about replacing both. What fluids did you use and how much? I expect our trannys are about the same?

My gasser has came with the deep pan so I ordered two gallons via eBay and had them with two days. I used Dexron VI. Check out the entire process by opening the link (#757).

Either Dex 3 or Vl will work for fluid. I use Dex 3 because that is what the 4l80e is designed for.
Dex 6 is newer design synthetic fluid. It is backwards compatible for dex3

Hey guys, am following up on the PO756 code I was getting. After poking around here and YT, I took the easy route first with adding ATF fluid. Well, don't you know, that appears to have been why it was throwing this code. I ended up adding a Qt.(?) of DEX 3 (thanks "1927- A1"). I stumbled on a YT vid that detailed how the dip stick may not be calibrated correctly resulting in lower than spec fluid level. The code has not reappeared in 4-5 starts.
As for the P0236, I was receivng, it was the "Waste Gate" solenoid, another easy fix. Again, no recurrence in 4-5 start cycles. Thanks for your help DieselPlace members.
