I personally wouldn't risk it being it is that old. Any food particles that could be in it have surely started breaking down and putting mold/bacteria in the oil which is a definate no no.

Peanut Oil

I too have some peanut oil leftover from frying a turkey this last Chistmas, If I carefully strained it, what quantity could I safely mix with in a full tank (26gal) of Diesel. Would it still be OK to add my usual amount of Power Service Diesel Kleen?

Yep, me too in my Duramax.

All you really need to do is filter it extremely well (unless you like changing your fuel filter every hundred miles). I wouldn't add a lot when it is cold out-in fact it's probably a safer bet to wait a few months until it warms up. I also premix the oil with a little diesel before dumping it in to assure proper mixing, even in hot temperatures.

As far as amounts, up to a quart per tank and you'll never even know it is in there. You can probably consider up to 10% to be entirely safe in warm temperatures, though some would argue no amount is safe.

I haven't tried using oil in mine yet. If you are worried about the bacteria, just heat the oil up like you are going to cook with it...cool it...strain it...and use it. I have read of guys mixing veggie oil in their diesel with good results. I just can't do it right now since it is winter in Alaska.

yep, peanut oil every tank. 1.5 gallons to 26 gallon tank. idle's smoother and quieter.

Wonder how it smells if you're following behind it? Maybe like when you drive by a fast food place?

Anything less than 10% is really hard to notice in the exhaust unless you know what you are sniffing for.

My old Mercedes on 100% oil was very noticeable. At one point I had a fish place and a chicken joint as two of my suppliers. If I didn't have the oils mixed, you could tell exactly which oil I was burning at a given time.

i would say if you cooked with it you need to process into bio. you will have sediment, but acids started to form after cooking and that will damage fuel system. you have WVO(waste veg oil) not SVO(straight veg oil), WVO should be processed to BIO. you can siphon off top, jug should have settled and that will leave most sediment behind. SVO can be mixed in with diesel. North Carolina used to get peanut oil and burn during summer in hiway trucks, back in 70's.

I would make sure there was no bacteria or anything in it before filtering..........keep heated around 80-100 degrees and let the food settle to the bottom......heat will also kill the bacteria before throwing it in your stock tank.......

I would not hesitate to run it in my truck. However, veggie oil, or in this case nut oil, is really better as a warm weather fuel. Habanero made an excellent suggestion - premix it rather than just dumping it in straight. Direct-pour is one lousy way to add add any veggie oil to your fuel in cold weather.

I will wait a few months and heat, filter and try about a quart per tank, am using that ratio of 2 stroke now.Just hate to pitch it,might try a small batch of bio though in spring with it if I can find out how.
