okay so I was running my dads truck that a 1999 chevy k3500 with the 6.5 diesel.. I had an issue with starting and just overall roughness and one day it would start and not start.. I order a new pmd since my dads was installed years ago so I figure maybe it was time once changed ran fine and everything no issue no check engine light and etc but I didnt see the #9 resister that was inside the pmd.. then running the truck for weeks then a I get this crank position sensor CPS
code and I was working 6 days and had no other truck so I ran it because nothing felt different found out the optical sensor was still running the truck and still nothing felt different and then pam I filled 75 $ worth of diesel and then the next day driving and driving and then lost throttle power and could rev high unless I held it all the way down... pulled over at the gas station that filled up yesterday at and turned it off Called the wife and bought me down the OBD-2 reader and found the these codes P0335 P0370 P0251 2 of them are IP and timing and the other is the CPS and now the truck is hard to start rough to run and had to hold the pedal all the way to make it home up the hill thank god I was close to home but still its my only truck and I been using my wife BMW until but its snowing and I never had issues before with this until I swap out the PMD and didnt install the ( resister) / green chip ... I heard that after 50 key start it reset the timing on the IP and im honest lost at this point should I just go for it and change the CPS or am I looking redoing the timing of the engine and IP If so.. how!!! and if so step by step...!!!!! ...
list of things I should do or even tell me if the CPS can cause this issue and as well if I had my PMD chip and now that I replaced it does that effect it as well and if so then do I just need to buy a chip and add it or do I need todo a Hard reset or does it have to be coded... as of right now it will run with or without the chip but I can tell the difference in rev when cracking and only way to start it if I hit the pedal and hold it until I can rev the engine but then if I let go it will die out needs to hold it at 1500 RPM then it will stay alive on it owns but it will not move like it should and it buck at 2000-2500-3000 rpm and as well I can hear like a think noise like seem to be like a metal on metal noise but not like steel on steel seem like aluminum and like a tin can would make near the IP could that just be due to the timing or is my IP done!!
Chevy k3500 6.5 turbo no mods all stock PMD is on the tow mirror with cable ran very neat and all weather tight
145,682 miles and weight is 9,798 LBS .... truck never given this issue in the last 15 years my dad has owned it
