Code: P0299
Modules: ECM
Description: Turbocharger Engine Underboost
Might have gotten some snow in the air intake....My 05 would through that code, the 01 and 06 seem immune

I've been getting these codes VERY frequently lately myself. Have a buddy helping me to narrow it down so i'd be VERY interested in anything you learn. I'm in Salt Lake - rare that it's been above freezing the past few weeks (happened like 3 days out of the past 3 weeks).... so, i'd correlate the P0299 that i am getting all the time (even at startup) with the air temperature because i've been running a race tune for months without issue... if it means Underboost, that might explain why i get it sometimes when i'm really 'ON IT'...

Also, noting some similarities.... Banks Ram Air is common (including me) on a few threads i've read and a friend of mine that's been helping me figure out this EFI thing also had a friend with Banks Ram air who was getting the same code... Not trying to state anything negative with the Banks kit, because overally i LOVE it, even though my PDA is now just a cool monitor because of EFI Live... The system as a whole made a wonderful change for my truck (I did the whole Big Hoss Bundle).

Anyone else with Banks Ram air ever experienced this? Kinda odd that i've seen this 3 times (including myself) and heard about a 4th case.. all with Banks Ram Air kit...

Any comments Banks??

Maybe the oils got something to due with it---not flowing as well in cold weather? Or possibly that the VVT is hanging up until it get warm?
Don't think the intake should have anything to due with it but then again who knows. No problems on my end.

P0299 Too!

I got one of these codes last Friday at start-up. Ambient air temp was around freezing. All Data said that 3 Ignition cycles should clear the code. Also recommends a new 90 dollar sensor. The tech checked on part availability. The parts house said the sensor is not a "High Fail Item", so they don't stock that many. Truck seems to run just fine, I'll watch for it again and check some of the things recommended by DP. :thankyou2

p0299

My truck threw the same code also. This is the first time the code has shown up and the only thing that has changed with the truck from previous years is I used high idle. I never used it before, so I tried it and the p0299 was set. I do however have the top and bottom bra on the truck also. Don't know if that makes a difference though. I reset the code and as long as I don't use high idle everything is fine and no codes.

I did an oil change the day before I got this code. The shop I go to recommend the same oil they use for a diesel fleet they service trucks. Hmmmmm!?
