Which type of fluid to put in transfer case?

I see people are using either Dex III ATF or Auto-Trak II.

Is there really a difference and what is the RIGHT type to put in?

Thanks.

Kinda...You'll see the option in half-ton trucks and the suv's. Supposedly senses when the wheels are slipping and applys power to the front wheels when the "auto 4wd" button is depressed.
Never was an option on the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks that I'm aware of...

Yep, that's the one and only found in 1500 series trucks and SUVs If you don't have a big round "auto" button at the top of your 4x4 controls, you need ATF. The AutoTrak II fluid has friction modifiers in it for the clutch pack that's in the auto 4wd transfer case. We have a chain and sprocket - no steenkin' clutches!

Primrose’s Power-Master Plus 405-C.

Will get the whole package up as soon as I can.
