Hey guys.Long time member here but I’m just wondering why you can’t use good old rotella T6 5W40 or rotella T6 5W30 multi vehicle oil in this new 3.0 duramax engine?The rotella is low ash so I just wanted to comment.Thanks

Dexos is supposed to have different properties for smaller turbo engines, with higher change intervals ( up to 15,000 miles), holds up to combustion and heat better

Ok so we all know that the Dexos is just a way for GM to make money by selling liceincing to use the name, but honestly shouldn't they be advising us on what other oils we can use when it's almost impossible to find DexosD branded oils?

I would check the bobistheoilguy forum for the Dexos oil alternatives
