Hey gents, newbie here from Texas. He is my dilemma:
I own a 2004 GMC 2500. During this winter the RPM gauge started sticking and now my oil pressure gauge is doing the same. The darn oil pressure gauge is stuck and went all the way past the markers, and now not even working. On my 2002 model the RPM gauge did the same thing. Any help would be great. And if this question is already answered somewhere I apoligize. Thanks in advance!

Well i have had a similar problem with my fuel gauage and my volt gauge. They still work but don't reset to zero when I shut the truck off. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the cluster and reprogrammed...that fixed it temporarily(for like a day) then it started doing the same thing.

From what I understand all gauges in the cluster use the same type of stepper motor. Many people have had the speedometer go out, I am one of them. If your still within warranty coverage I would try that first. If not there is a guy on ebay that sells stepper motors. You can replace the motors yourself or send off you cluster and he will fix it. Hopefully this thread will tell you everything you need to know.

I just finished repairing my gauges. For $15 a gauge and $8 shipping for the order I had my instrument panel fixed. The whole process took less than 40 minutes to do and when you buy the stepper motors, he gives instructions on how to replace them.

Keep this post going! I think my RPM gauge is doing this now. On the way to work this morning it went all the way past red and is stuck.

Please post pics of your repairs!!

My tach on my 04 will sometimes read 500rpms at 55mph and when you stop it will drop way below 0. If you shut truck off and restart it will work fine. Any ideas as I'm 870 miles out of warrenty.
