Hello I'm new to this forum my 02 silv.3/4 ton lately I have smelled diesel like I have an exhast leak when Im at idle but got under the truck and nothing ..Idid notice when I checked my oil that it look real thin and smelled like deisel,also last night my truck started to run rough at idle...79,000 miles any ideas ?

Its always helpful to start with a signature to list all the specifics/mods on your truck.

As far as your problem, sounds like injectors. The rough idle and diesel smell in the oil are common signs. You can do a search and will find a TON of info on bad injectors. Your injectors are covered for 200K. If you have a buddy with a Tech II or EFI, they can check the balance rates. If thats not an option, just stop at the dealer.

sounds like injectors, get it in and have it checked out before you got bigger problems from the fuel thinning out the oil...Check out the in service date on the truck, the injectors are covered for 5 years or 200,000 miles IIRC.
